Tapered Rubber Plugs

Rubber plugs are used in conjunction with the ROBINSON Vacuum Leak Detector. They can be used with other leak testers or to aid in epoxy coatings.

Fiber with brass insert plug. These plugs are used on low pressure, low temperature applications. To install: drive the plug into position using round stock such as a wooden dowels slightly smaller than the tube I.D. This will ensure that the fiber and brass are driven in together, sealing the tube. Do not drive the brass insert alone. Only minimal force is required for installation. This style plug is also available in stainless steel (fiber with stainless steel).

ROBINSON thimble plug. This short plug can be manufactured in a wide range of material to suit tube OD’s of 5/8” to 1-1/4” and all tube wall thickness’. One plug is made to fit 2 or 3 gauge sizes.

Modeled after ROBINSON’s original Type 5 inside style expandable tube plug, this plug is constructed from rubber, vulcanized fiber, and metal hardware; creating a leak tight seal. Available for 5/8” through 1-1/4” OD tubes.

JRRT21WN

The wing nut plug can be used for permanent or temporary plugging. This plug is also commonly used as a test plug. The wing nut makes for easy expansion where no additional tools are needed.
Available for 3/8”, 1/2”, 9/16”, 11/16”, ¾”, 7/8”, 1”, 1-1/8”, and 1-1/4” O.D. tubes.

The low pressure test plugs have a vented design with a through hole for pressure testing. Plugs 1/2” through 7/8” can be used with air pressure up to 10 PSI and water pressure up to 20 PSI. Plugs 1” through 4” are used with 5 PSI of air pressure and 10 PSI of water pressure.

ROBINSON tapered wood dowel plug. This versatile wood plug is used for many applications and available for 1/4” to 5” OD tubes.

Header plugs are commonly found in air cooled heat exchangers (fin fan coolers). Header plugs (or fin fan plugs) and gaskets are supplied separately or as a set. These plugs are made from SA-105 (SA105N/LF2) with carbon steel gaskets.

Large test plug with bypass used for large pipes and water tube boilers. For use with 5 PSI of air pressure and temperatures up to 225 °F. Wing nut design allows for easy, tool free installation. Larger sizes and additional rubbers available upon request.
